Kathy Geiger is the owner of Geiger Law Practice Sales.

 

Education

 

Ms. Geiger attended Queen's University for an undergraduate degree in English Literature, and the University of B.C. for Law School.

 

Legal Experience

 

Ms Geiger has 15 years’ practice experience working as a lawyer in Vancouver, BC.

 

She started her career with articles at Russell & DuMoulin in Vancouver (now Faskens) and was in their Labour and Employment Group for four years. She then moved to Davis & Company to join their Commercial Litigation group.

 

Subsequently Ms Geiger headed the litigation department of a smaller firm, then founded her own litigation practice.

 

She moved back to Ontario (being a "Kingston girl" at heart, as Don Cherry would put it) to join Canada's largest recruiting firm, where she quickly rose to Manager of the Ottawa Office. She then joined a Toronto recruitment firm as a Partner and Director of Legal Services.  From 2002-2007, Ms. Geiger worked in Toronto and Ottawa as a recruiter in the legal industry, developing a thorough knowledge of the Canadian recruitment landscape, from new calls to senior partners.

 

During this time, Ms. Geiger regularly encountered practitioners trying to sell their Law Practices. She discovered that other recruiters had no experience in this area, nor were they willing or able to assist in legal practice sales due to their complexity.

 

Ms Geiger saw this as an opportunity to help her clients, so, in response to this need, she developed an expertise in Law Practice sales to better serve her clients. 

 

Ms. Geiger is now serving this need as Geiger Law Practice Sales (since 2007) and is the only recruiter in Canada specializing in Law Practice sales for small and solo practitioners. 

 

Creative, cheerful and entrepreneurial, Ms. Geiger can be relied upon to be professional, highly confidential and extremely intuitive about the "fit" between buyer and seller, candidate and firm. She has integrity, well-developed mediation and negotiation skills and assists parties in reaching a common ground about the business aspects of their deal.
